Roger Beasley Mazda opened for business
on March 1st, 1972 at 6918 Burnet Road and was one of
the first Mazda dealerships in the nation. The success
of the Mazda brand in Austin over the years spurred
Roger Beasley Mazda to grow, expanding eight times as
it purchased adjacent property in the heart of the city.
Also known as Mazda Central, the store’s sales
and customer satisfaction has earned it Mazda’s
elite President Club’s status for 15 years in
a row, one of just 6 stores to do so nationwide. The
success of Roger Beasley Mazda has made Austin the #1
Mazda per-capita city in the U.S.
Roger Beasley was a car guy from the start, repairing
and racing cars in high school. Roger graduated from
the University of Texas in 1961 with a degree in Business
Administration. Before opening Roger Beasley Mazda in
1972, he and his business partner Paul Holcomb, bought
and sold used cars at 5505 North Lamar. Over the next
few years, Roger bought and sold American Motors, Renault,
Peugeot, Lotus, Daihatsu, Suzuki, Kia, Honda, and Ford
franchises.
Roger Beasley Mazda is proud to support the Austin Humane
Society, the Town Lake Trail Foundation, and the Ronald
McDonald House.
Roger has served as Vice President of the Texas Auto
Dealers Association, as a Board of Director of J.P.
Morgan Chase, and on dealer councils for American Motors,
Saab and Mazda. In 2001, Roger was recognized as one
of the top 100 dealers nationwide by Ford Motor Corp.
Roger also served as President of the Austin Ski Club.
Roger has one daughter and two grandchildren and his
hobbies are running, skiing, horse racing, rafting,
and fishing.
